Vodafone revealed a Faster, Smarter, Better ZooZoo: A Super 3G ZooZoo

Its a Superman.. Its a Batman.. Its Rajinikanth.. NO! Its a ZooZoo.

Vodafone today revelaed a supernatural ZooZoo with a 3G logo, Something like eye patch and a Cape n everything..
The 3G Super ZooZoo seems like a hybrid of Superman, Mr. incredible and our favourite Rajinikanth.. going into the telephone booth for changing up like superman.. flying high in the sky saving people around.. stopping trains from falling off the bridges.. and running faster than the bullets..

I already said earlier how m a great fan of creative advertisments like these and Vodafone ZooZoo ads are already a benchmark for the Indian advertisment industry.

Vodafone ZooZoos already being hugely popular in IPL returned this time in ICC cricket world cup 2011 all excited up about watching something supernatural in the sky..  You must have seen those ZooZoo ads ending in “Fact or Fiction?“, “UFO or Alien?“, “Bird or Plane?“, “Dream or Reality?”  if you have been following the world cup..

The new character correctly signifies what vodafone is offering its customers – a FASTER, SMARTER and BETTER 3G broadband experience with top 3G speed at 21.1 Mbps.. now thats really super..

Heres the advertisement video if you haven’t seen it yet..

Videocon launched 0 Paisa Per Second

Videocon 0 paisa per secondWohoo! I guessed it right..

Two days back I wrote a post on Videocon’s new campaign on Bye Bye 1 paisa which paid condolences to 1 paisa per second and the site launched by videocon to pay your condolences and also there was this option to guess “Who’ll succeed 1 paisa per second” and stand a chance of winning an android phone.

And I guessed there 0 pasia per second and it is indeed 0 paisa per second… Yes videocon is launching 0 paisa per second..

How is it possible??

In yet another innovative scheme of videocon it launched 0 paisa per second scheme.. As per the scheme if you buy a selected model of Videocon mobile phone you’ll get Daily free local 10 to 30 minutes upto six months to one year depending upon the handset.

The mobile set comes with a free sim card from videocon mobile services having a lifetime validity.

The following handsets are bundled with the 0 paisa per second scheme..

  1. V202

Bye Bye 1p Campaign by Videocon Mobile Services

I just saw a very appealing array of advertisements on TV while watching Dance India Dance during commercial break.. The commercials paid condolences to 1p/s call tarrif in a very innovative and creative way..

The commercial just talked about paying condolences to the 1p per second and didn’t explained what it was actually about (ofcourse it has to be about something).. It just shows this website address at the end of the comercial

Even on the website there was nothing else other than paying condolences  to 1p/s.. I looked everywhere.. then I foundthis little link of Terms and Conditions by reading which I came to know the site belongs to Videocon Telecommunications Limited.. But that also wasn’t enough info..

So I did what I always do to solve my quests.. I goOgled.. and found out that this is a campaign started by Videocon to promote its GSM services already launched in 10 circles and soon to be expanded to all 22 circles across India.

Videocon also have a beautiful.. literally beautiful website up and running to pay the condolences to the 1p per second call tarrifs which definitely means videocon is gonna bring some even cheaper call rates..They already have a 25p per minute local and STD calls Special tarrif Voucher (STV17) in Mumbai Circle.. Now that’s an awfully cheap tarrif..

UPDATE: On the website there is also an option to guess “Who will succeed the 1p/sec” and win an Android phone.

Have you also seen the Ads?? What do you say about it??

FaceboOk SMS notifications or SMS Spam: A Netizen’s Dilemma

faceboOk recently sent the following SMS to its users suggesting to de-register from the DND service if they want to continue receiving messages from faceboOk.
Your number is registered with Do Not Call Registry.
To receive Facebook SMS after Feb 1 you must de-register by texting STOP DND to 1909.
The Reason:

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently issued new regulations on the SMS industry in India.
Starting from Feb 1st 2011 every SMS service provider has to adhere to the new TRAI NCPR (National Consumer Preference Register (NCPR)) guidelines. Check for more details on new TRAI guidelines.
The primary objective is to ensure that consumers do not get commercial communications of promotional nature unless they have specifically opted for receiving them. No SMS provider is allowed to deliver SMS to NDNC/NCPR listed mobile numbers. TRAI New guidelines does not allow any service provider to use Numeric mobile number as the sender. So, starting from Feb 1 st, the new Message structure will be like -” TD- XXXXX” as the sender. These policies will also be applicable on internet-based mobile messaging websites.
What does this mean??

This means..
On a happy note..
  • No more SMSes about buying a SuperDuper Flat near Noida expressway or buying River view villas in Goa… and maybe no more SAUNA SLIM BELTS advertisement too.. 😛
On a note so happy note..
  • No more interactivity for facebook via text message.. You can’t like or comment on a friend’s status by replying to the message now, as SMS wont be coming from a real phone number as it used to come..
  • You can’t receive SMS notifications from faceboOk if you are registered on NDNC/NCPR
  • You can’t receive SMS notification between 9PM to 9AM even if you are not registered on NDNC/NCPR
  • You can’t send SMS from sites like way2sms with your own no. SMS would instead be sent from “TD- SNEHIL” like nicknames.
TRAI categorizes bulk SMS into two categories: Transactional and Promotional.
Transactional SMS is any message sent by Financial institution, Railways, Airlines or Educational institutions to it’s registered users. Everything else is termed as Promotional.
Telemarketer SMS and calls will be categorized in 7 categories namely:
  1. Banking/Insurance/Financial products/credit cards;
  2. Real Estate;
  3. Education;
  4. Health;
  5. Consumer goods and automobiles;
  6. Communication/Broadcasting/Entertainment/IT;
  7. Tourism and Leisure.
Only Transactional messages will have full branded sender id (like TA-ICICIBANK) for others, there will be a 6 digit code (like TA-n12345 or TA-nABCDE), where n is the category of the message and further 5 digits are the unique code given by the telecom operator to each aggregator. All non-transactional messages will be compulsorily passed through the NDNC filter.
Obviously TRAI didn’t thought of these Internet based messaging services like faceboOk, goOgle SMS groups, messaging websites like way2sms, 160by2 etc before setting these guidelines..
TRAI guideline does not talk about these services, and since the operators are going to term any Bulk SMS as a promotional SMS.. so users are ultimately gonna loose the benefits of these sevices..
Although the policy was meant to be implemented from today (i.e 1 Feb) but I did received some messages from faceboOk from a normal numeric number.. so is it delayed??

All you need to know about – Mobile Number Portability

Mobile Number Portability

After a long delay of 3 years Mobile Number Portability (MNP) has finally came to reality today (20 jan 2011) . Mobile Number Portability (MNP) will finally be available all over India from 20th Jan 2011.

Mobile Number Portability (MNP) allows the subscriber to change his/her Service Provider without changing his/her mobile number. The number gets ported to the new provider. Subscriber can even switch from GSM to CDMA and vice versa and also can change from Prepaid to Postpaid and vice versa but within his circle only as inter-circle portability has not been implemented yet.

MNP Service Areas

To Port:

  • SEND: PORT <space> mobileNumber to 1900
    e.g. PORT 9873000000 to 1900
    This is a unique number that will be maintained along with your mobile number in the master database managed by a third party firm. For zone I, Syniverse has been appointed with the MNP and related issues while for zone II, it is Telcordia.
  • You will get back a unique Porting code with expiry date
  • Approach the Service provider you want to opt for with this unique code before the expiry time of the code.
    Carry your address and ID proof/ photograph/ application form.
    You’ll get a new SIM card for your new connection.
    Apart from Retention of number everything is same as getting a new connection.
  • The new operaor will then contact existing operator and ask for permission and if approved will text you a Date and time mentioning when your phone will go through no-service period while porting.
  • On the set date and time the existing operator will disconnect the number and new operator will claim it. MNP would mantain a central database.
  • While porting your phone will be out of use for couple of hours between 12Am and 5Am.

Cost of porting: Rs 19/-

Reasons to switch mobile service providers

Reasons to switch mobile service providers

Now a few questions which I’m sure would be popping in your head..

How frequently can I Switch among Service Providers?
Once switched you can’t switch again for atleast 90 days. So choose wisely and don’t end up with the some provider even worse than the previous one.

Will my Prepaid balance be carried forward to the new operator?
NO. So make sure you use all of it before the porting time. 😛

How much time the whole process would take?
Seven working days. Fifteen in case of J&K , North East.

Now how will I know if the number I’m calling is of which particular network and if Free minutes would be applicable or not?
Beats me. Every thing has its own pros and cons.. and this is one of the cons.

So all in all its a great power put in the hands of user which will ultimately benefit the user and wil initiate healty competetions among service providers.

Speacial thanx to Anuj for sighting a little mistake in the post.. and “ye line mujhse likhwai gai hai” 😛
